Raphael sensed her tense up a little, despite her pretending not to. It wasn’t too hard to tell when a girl’s heart wasn’t in it, especially when he was kissing her. Perhaps he’d misinterpreted her signals after all, or maybe it was his bloody nephew again. What was it between these two? Was she reciprocating Alexi’s affections now? He knew that Jaiden wouldn’t object if Raphael pushed the issue. Considering the fact that this thing they shared was potentially jeopardising Jaiden’s life, he certainly had grounds, in his mind, to do so. Raphael had never really been particularly attracted to Jaiden, not so much physically at least. Not that she was unattractive by any measure, but Jaiden definitely had something about her, although he had never been able to place what it was. Most of the time he just couldn’t help himself; he had a weakness for strong-willed women and, in Jaiden’s case, it was also a dominance thing.

“I’m sure I could line up a more private invitation just for two,” Raphael grinned, watching her intently with his piercing blue-green eyes. “Although we do have an hour and a half before my guests arrive… ample time to give you a sneak preview… if you’re game that is?”

Jaiden’s smirk widened and she put on her thinking look “Well…” she laughed then looking at him, her eyes looking into his stunningly coloured eyes “A sneak preview?” she asked, a bit of cheekiness entering her eyes “I am game” she smirked. She wondered if Raphael would ever let her out of this business. Since honestly she couldn’t do it for the rest of her life. Or maybe he was just hoping she’d get caught and killed. She was no one to him afterall. She was no one to everyone.

(Hope you don’t mind me shortcutting to the next scene with this one.)

Raphael had concluded his tour before the end of the hour, having given Jaiden an extended visit to the cabin with the indoor spa bath. The middle-aged crime lord looked a little flushed by the time they’d gotten back to the clubhouse. His face didn’t usually turn a shade of rosy pink after sex, but the spa had been heated and he’d also knocked back a few glasses of bubbly. He hadn’t been quite as forceful as last time and had spent less time fulfilling his own urges and more trying to fulfil hers.

Alexi’s expression was impassive by the time they had returned. To keep himself busy he’d cleaned up the mess from their cocktail making and then, out of sheer boredom and spite, he’d had a couple of games of pool against himself. When Jaiden and his boss still hadn’t returned, he’d helped himself to another beer and a snack from the kitchen.
He’d watched them from the balcony as they strolled together down the jetty. He couldn’t help but feel weird as he watched the two of them. He couldn’t understand why he felt jealous and a little betrayed after these meetings. He knew his boss and his ‘business with pleasure’ attitude to his employees and, after an hours time and the change in Raphael’s body language, it was obvious what they’d been up to. He was a little disappointed that an assassin hadn’t snuck on board and taken out his boss whilst he was preoccupied. Sighing, Alexi met them at the top of the stairs.

“Right then, all done?” He asked Raphael. He had to force himself to maintain eye contact his boss.

Raphael pursed his lips theatrically and took a moment to contemplate the question. He had noticed Alexi’s subtle change in demeanour.

“I think so,” he replied and turned to face Jaiden. “Is there anything else that you wanted to tell me?”

As if they’d spent the whole time discussing tactics… One part business and nine parts pleasure was Raphael’s policy in these cases.

Jaiden breathed out as she walked with Raphael, that had been much better then last time but now she wished she hadn't worn something so... wrapped up. Her skin still felt like it was burning. So much she had tied it up as they headed back. She stared at the ground as they walked and then looked up at she heard Alexi speak when they got to him. She frowned slightly, and suddenly felt rather weird. She looked at Raphael and smiled at his look before shaking her head to his question "I don't think so" she told him then looking at Alexi, she felt like a naughty teenager there for a moment.

She sighed lightly, with the fresh air her skin was cooling down quickly "If there is anything I think of I'll save it till next time or find another way of getting it too you" she said, just so they didn't have to set up a meeting for small gossip. Though she felt like meeting Alexi more. She smiled and then placed her hands on her hips.

Alexi obviously had another one of his moods on. His nephew could be such a stick in the mud sometimes and Raphael didn’t like having to break him down so. Actually, in this case he had enjoyed it, but that was beside the point. If he wasn’t careful, Alexi would easily fall for the first girl that started to show him attention. Considering his attitude on both occasions, Raphael decided that he wouldn’t involve Alexi next time. Although, that of course meant letting somebody else in on the secret that he had a mole inside Bionco’s network. When it came down to it, Raphael didn’t trust most of his aides much. Even his own daughter was sneaking around behind his back. Perhaps next time he’d just go down to the day spa and conduct his meeting with Jaiden there. That way he didn’t need have to concern himself about such trivial matters.

Raphael nodded to Jaiden, glad that she was playing along. He turned to Alexi. He’d been thinking about the information that Jaiden had given him. Sex always seemed to stimulate ideas for some reason

“Alexi. Change of plan. I’ll take Jaiden back myself. I want you to call James. Tell him that something’s come up. We have to reschedule the boat trip until 3pm. Then go down to visit Tom. Have him arrange another meet with his man in Knightsbridge. I want half a dozen Beta Ones.”

Raphael was talking in code. Tom was actually their call-sign for Dante. Tom’s man in Knightsbridge referred to Tristan, which was a red herring since Tristan didn’t reside anywhere near Knightsbridge. Beta One was also code for a certain type of hardware that Raphael was chasing.
Raphael had plans of his own and he needed to keep Alexi preoccupied for a little while.

Jaiden looked at Raphael with a raised eye brow as he said there was a change of plans. He was taking her back? Wasn't that risky and why wasn't Alexi? She didn't like this change in plans and looked at Alexi calmly. She didn't understand what they were saying and guessed it wasn't meant for her ears anyhow. She looked back at Raphael "You taking me back isn't that risky?" she asked "I personally think it's safer if Alexi drives me back"

Raphael eyed at Jaiden inquisitively with his piecing gaze, the warm affection from what they just shared fading a little as he became slightly suspicious. She had a habit of speaking out of turn. One day it would turn around and bite her on the arse. He’d subtly warned her about it in the past, but he’d come to accept that it was one of Jaiden’s character traits and he didn’t want to push her too hard, especially with her in such a position to turn on him. He wondered why she would think it was safer for Alexi to drive her back. Safer for whom exactly? Anybody who was anybody would recognise Alexi as Raphael’s bodyguard. In many ways his nephew’s face was better known than his was. As far as being predictable was concerned, if somebody was onto their little rendezvous then they wouldn’t be expecting Raphael to be the one bringing her back.

Alexi shuffled nervously and risked a curious glance at the double agent. He had to resist letting a smile crease his lips.

“You feel safer with Alexi than you do me?” Raphael asked. It was a trick question of course and he was anticipating that she’d turn it around to mean something else. Had she reacted before she had thought about what she had just said, or was he missing something?

Jaiden frowned at Raphael looked, she hated the look he was giving her. She looked over her shoulder outside then back to him as he spoke. Did she feel safer with Alexi then him? Hell yes. Ten times safer. She had seen Raphael’s nasty side to many times but she hadn’t seen Alexi’s yet. If there was one.

She gave him a look like that was a dirty question to ask cause whatever she said would get her in trouble anyhow “If doesn’t who I feel safe with Raphael” she told him then sighing “It is the fact of if anyone is watching me, and they see you bringing me back without Alexi, they most likely will take that chance of taking you don’t cause you don’t have your bodyguard with you” Jaiden added “It’s just safer for you and you are the main person they can’t get a hold of”

Hopefully it worked. T her it would be weird to be returned by Raphael and not Alexi.

Raphael didn’t know that she cared so much. In fact he didn’t believe a word of it. Besides, if they’d made Jaiden then he wanted to know about it. He was prepared to use himself as bait if he had to. He doubted that they were onto him. She’d probably be dead if that was the case; unless she’d been compromised… Was this a subtle warning to him that they knew who she was? Perhaps she just wanted to spend more time with Alexi. Either way, he wasn’t convinced and there was something that she wasn’t telling him.

Alexi looked between the two and opted to stay silent on this one. He was also a little disappointed but he knew better than to argue with his boss without sufficient reason. He too wondered what she was up to fighting him on this. Was it really a big deal to her that Alexi drove her back?

Raphael shook his head as if coming to a decision. All the while he maintained his eyes on hers.

“Your concern for my wellbeing is very sweet Jaiden.” Raphael said and smiled at her with a slight note of cynicism. “The Grim reaper will just have to wait because I have no intention of dying today.”

He then glanced at Alexi as if to say, ‘what are you waiting for? I just gave you an order.’ His guests would be here soon after all. Obviously they wouldn’t be too impressed but Alexi would come up with a suitable excuse for him. He always did.

Jaiden continued to stare at Raphael then gave him just a hint of a sour smile “Well then, I guess there is no changing your mind” she smiled playfully before looking at Alexi after Raphael gave him a look. She turned back to Raphael “Guess I’ll just have to be your bodyguard till you drop me off” she mused. She wondered if she could ever make this crime lord uneasy. She was sure there must have been times if he did the same to her. She looked at Alexi.

“Thank you for picking me up this morning” she said then looking at Raphael, not wanting to let her disappointment sink in to much “Should we go?”

Alexi straightened, aware that he probably had best not push things. He turned as if to walk away when Jaiden thanked him. He paused, and turned back to her.

“Not a problem,” he replied and then moved away, drawing his mobile phone and scrolling through the menu.

Raphael nodded to Jaiden. He had a bad habit for testing his employees loyalty every now and then. This time he was testing both of them. It wasn’t often that he tested Alexi these days, but deep down, he knew that his bodyguard was more soft hearted than he seemed to be. He knew all too well how an attractive woman could twist a man’s judgement if he wasn’t careful. Alexi didn’t know it, but this was probably going to be the last time he’d be seeing Jaiden. He didn’t understand it, but he was listening to his gut feelings.

“Right,” he flashed Jaiden a smile. “Let us go then you and I.”

Raphael led her over to his Ferrari.

(I don’t know about you, but I don’t really have anything else that I need to do here.)
