(shhhh, don't tell)
Less then two hours later, Owen was knocking gently on Amilie's door. Amilie looked through the peep hole and opened it, she ushered her friend and his fiancee in and swallowed as she closed and locked the door behind them. "Well, congratulations I guess." She smiled, though she had a slightly confused frown about her. She looked from Owen to Lilith and bit her lip. "You can stay here as long as you need." She said quietly. "You can sleep in my bed, I'll have the couch." She said, if worse came to worse, she could always go to Alexavier's she guessed.
Owen smiled sheepishly. "Thanks Am." He put his bags down and wrapped his arms around her in a huge hug. "You're the best." He whispered. She hugged him back and shook her head. She was sure he'd do the same for her. Amilie pulled back and looked at Lilith again. "Are you alright?" She asked gently.
Lilith had been holding onto Owen's hand up to the door, she smiled gently at Amilie as she opened the door and let them in. She let go of Owen and smiled very slightly as Amilie congratulated them. This engagement didn't seem real... But she knew it was the plan "Thank you Amilie" whispered Lilith watching the two friends she was tearing apart hug. She sighed and looked at the bags till she heard Am's voice, she looked up "Yes, I'm doing rather well" she said then touching Owen's arm "He's being incredible" she told Amilie but incredible was just the beginning of what Owen was.
Amilie smiled and nodded. She was proud of her friend, incredibly sad he was leaving, but, she was suer somehow they would meet again. "Incredible sounds about right." She said quietly. She was trying not to let her eyes get teary, she didn't really want her friend to go, she knew how much he was letting drop for this girl, they'd barely known each other for a month, maybe two. And he was already going to marry her, to save her life, and leave his behind. He had such a future.
Amilie wasn't sure she could do the same. She wasn't sure what would happen if they came to Alexavier and told him if he didn't leave they'd kill him. She looked away and closed her eyes, walking to the kitchen table where her computer was already set up. "The internet is on, it's only dial up, but, you can find information about changing names." She said walking into the kitchen, she wiped her eyes.
Owen let go of a breath and watched his friend and then looked at Lilith. He smiled a little and nodded. "Thanks Am." He said gently. He took the bags from Lilith and put them down, and then too her hand and walked her to the computer. Owen sat at the table and thought. He had to figure out how he was going to just get the cash, he had some in a savings account, but he was unsure how much it was, and he wasn't sure it would be enough to cover them both for the flight, and the hotel until they found somewhere. He would need to start looking for a job there immediately too so they wouldn't be struggling.
Amilie leaned against the bench and watched Owen take Lilith to the table. She put her hand to her mouth and started to gnaw on the nail of her thumb. Owen really was her only friend, she would do anything for him, but she wished he wouldn't have to leave her.
Lilith watched Amilie noticing the emotion flooding the other woman's face. Lilith didn't feel much better about taking Owen away, after all she had told him that he could stay, that she could go on her own but he wouldn't let her. She looked at Owen as he took the bags from her a little dazzed, having been lost in her own thoughts. She let him take her hand and walk her over to the computer and sat down beside him. Leaning her head on his arm "Am is going to miss you so much" she whispered looking up at him.
Owen licked his lips as the page slowly started to load. He nodded slowly as Lilith spoke. He knew she would, and he'd missed her too, but, they would be saving at least one life by doing what they were, Amilie understood that, he knew she'd support him. "We'll find ways of keeping in touch." He said quietly back to Lilith. "We just have to disappear for a while, and, just make sure we're safe." He explained gently.
Lilith looked up at Owen and nodded, she moved back and sat up on her own looking at the computer screen. She didn't know how to work one of these properly. She had gotten little experience when she worked for Owen. She looked over at Am and stood up "Am, can I have a glass of water please?" she asked stepping into the kitchen area.
